S.T. Genesis is a Percutaneous Nerve Field Stimulator (PNFS) – a peripheral stimulator – that stimulates a patient’s cranial nerves, such as the vagus nerve, to help stop cravings and withdrawal to opioids and keep the body in parasympathetic tone.

The new procedure benefits patients suffering from opioid use disorder and/or patients with chronic pain who may benefit from decreasing their opioid dosage without withdrawal symptoms

S.T. Genesis™ PNFS is designed to administer auricular neurostimulation treatment while offering the patient a high degree of comfort and mobility. Stimulation is performed by sending electrical pulses emitted through needles strategically positioned in the ear.

Once the device is applied, the therapy begins and continues for a maximum of 120 hours. Each patient’s treatment is determined by frequent measurement of Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale (COWS) feedback.

After cleaning and disinfecting the surface of the ear and skin behind the ear, the physician will locate and mark the stimulation point for cranial the affected nerve branches on the surface of the skin. The physician will then fix the stimulation needle with the S.T. Genesis Device, peel off the protective file from the electrode, and apply the needle to the center of the marked stimulation point.
