CBS (Creyos) Testing:

An Innovative Approach to Evaluating Cognitive Function

CBS (Creyos) testing is a suite of neurocognitive assessments designed to evaluate and track brain function. These scientifically validated tests are administered online, providing our SWCA medical team with an objective measure of our patient’s cognitive abilities. By assessing memory, attention, reasoning, and verbal abilities, CBS testing offers valuable insights into a patient’s cognitive health. With more emphasis on detecting early signs of various mental health disorders, CMS has pushed all specialties to incorporate this type of testing in their practice. Recent studies within the last 5 years have proven mental health is directly related to physical health, making this test important for all of our patients to complete.

How it Works

CBS assessments are built upon classic neuropsychological tests that have undergone extensive research and validation. The tests are delivered online, making them convenient and accessible for patients. Each assessment evaluates four core elements of cognitive function: Memory, Attention, Reasoning, and Verbal Abilities. Once the test is complete, the results are reviewed with the patient upon their next visit to see their provider, where needed recommendations will be made by the provider to better enhance the patient’s current treatment plan.

1- MEMORY

Memory is an integral part of cognitive function, and CBS tests evaluate both short-term and long-term memory. This includes episodic memory, which involves recalling specific events, semantic memory, responsible for general knowledge, and working memory, which pertains to holding and manipulating information over short periods. By assessing memory, CBS testing can identify potential issues and aid in early intervention for patients experiencing cognitive decline.

2- ATTENTION

The ability to focus and sustain attention is crucial for daily activities and cognitive performance. CBS tests assess both short-term and long-term attention, helping our medical team identify any deficits or fluctuations in a patient’s attention span. Monitoring attention over time can offer valuable insights into cognitive changes and treatment efficacy.

3- REASONING

Reasoning is the cognitive process of using logic to solve problems and make decisions. CBS tests evaluate a patient’s reasoning abilities, helping to assess their cognitive flexibility and problem-solving skills. Identifying any decline in reasoning can guide our medical team in developing appropriate intervention strategies.

3- VERBAL ABILITES

Verbal fluency, comprehension, and recall play a vital role in effective communication and overall cognitive function. CBS evaluates a patient’s verbal abilities to gauge their linguistic proficiency. This assessment can be particularly helpful in diagnosing language-related cognitive impairments.

How Long it Takes to Administer

The length of a CBS assessment can vary depending on the specific tests being administered. However, a complete CBS Health assessment typically takes about 10-12 minutes to complete.
