WEEK 19 INJURY REPORT
As the Big Game approaches, it is inevitable to see an increase in players going in and out of the lineup due to injury. Some of the most common football injuries are ankle sprains, meniscus/knee injuries, hamstring and groin strains. While some injuries are due to overuse, most injuries tragically occur in play.
According to the NCAA: “Football players are nearly seven times more likely to be injured during a game than in practice. The overall injury rate in NCAA football is 8.1 injuries per 1,000 athlete exposures (games and practices combined). There were more than 41,000 injuries and 25 million athlete exposures from 2004 to 2009.”
Utilizing state of the art equipment and evidence-based treatment plans, Spine and Wellness Centers of America treat patients with these types of injuries every day.
The most common injuries for football players:
Strains/Sprains from Overuse or Injury – 39%
Cuts/Bruises – 25%
Dislocations (most commonly shoulder or knee) – 15%
