SPINE AND WELLNESS CENTERS OF AMERICA

Art Meets Medicine During The Pandemic

As seen in The Palm Beach Post and USA Today…

Dr. Jeffrey Cara, director of the Jupiter/Palm Beach Spine and Wellness Centers of America, has been featured alongside artist Henriett ‘Anri’ Michel, a Palm Beach Gardens artist for their collaboration which unites art and medicine. Together they solved a coronavirus pandemic related issue. Since many art galleries have closed, local artists are having a difficult time finding a way to showcase their artwork to the public.

Dr. Cara learned of the importance of beauty in healing during his fellowship in pain management at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. There, they have demonstrated a focus on soothing art and architecture which has been known to promote healing.

According to an article published in The National Center for Biotechnology Information, The Connection Between Art, Healing, and Public Health: A Review of Current Literature, “Engagement with creative activities has the potential to contribute toward reducing stress and depression and can serve as a vehicle for alleviating the burden of chronic disease.”

Henriett ‘Anri’ Michel works primarily in acrylic on canvas and sculpture. Her paintings, which she describes as ‘big and bold,’ also are for sale. You can contact her directly regarding purchase via her website.
